Welcome to the Home Page for the Cooperative
Education Program at Gulf Coast Community College. This is your one-stop shopping
information source on cooperative education, or "co-op," at GCCC.
Co-op is a college program that integrates classroom
studies with productive, almost always paid, real-life work experience in a related field.
Students get the best of both worlds -- a high quality academic degree and an
impressive resumé of practical work experience. They even receive college credit
for their co-op work experience that is reflected on their college transcript and is
transferable to a major university. Employers find motivated, well-prepared students
who excel as student employees and as future hires after graduation.
Why You Should Read Further!
 | More than 80 percent of the top 100 companies in the
Fortune 500 employ students through college co-op programs. |
 | Co-op students can earn supplemental income annually,
depending on academic year, time at work, and field of employment. |
 | Recent studies showed that one in three college
graduates could not find employment requiring a college degree. Relevant work
experience gives students an upper hand in building a career. |
Students, employers, and colleges that offer co-op
get a distinct edge on the competition. These three groups are partners in a
successful academic program which is more relevant than ever in building the high
performance workforce of the twenty-first century. And, you can find co-op in
hundreds of colleges at the associate, baccalaureate and graduate levels, which puts Gulf
Coast Community College in some elite company.
