| POSITION TITLE: | Chair, Health Sciences |
| REPORTS TO: | Vice President of Academic Affairs & Learning Support |
| BASIC FUNCTION: | To supervise and direct the health sciences division. Serve as a leader, resource person and problem solver for a large academic division, assist with maintenance of accredited programs, support the development of new programs, and instruct assigned courses. |
| DUTIES: | This is a
partial list: Supervise the day to day operations of the division. Coordinate, plan & present division annual strategic planning. Utilize departmental surveys/compile statistical data to establish division priorities, meeting the needs of programs & community. Assist with accreditation of Health Science programs. Manage personnel issues via classroom visits, student/employee evaluations. Review, make suggestions & produce copies of the annual PPE's for all division employees to the VP of Academic Affairs. Research & resolve issues from coordinator/faculty/student situations and respond to student appeals verbally & in writing. Maintain overall division budget. Actively seek and monitor Perkins equipment request for Health Science programs. Maintain and submit curriculum and catalog revisions in compliance with state oversight and in compliance with SACS standards. Oversee and proof the division course schedules. Produce or oversee adjunct & faculty overloads and special contracts. Participate in the initiation & formalization of clinical contracts. Evaluate community needs in planning for growth of program and workforce needs, interact with employers in the community. Maintain college and division policies. Serve on Academic Council, PLT, and other appointed positions. Promote division-wide professional growth and enhancement activities. Assist with writing grants and developing new programs and budgets; provide oversight and budget monitoring of grants. Oversee and approve the marketing of the programs to ensure sufficient qualified applicant numbers for each program. Teach assigned courses. |
| CLASSIFICATION: | 12-month |
| MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: | Master's degree with a background in a health care field, minimum of three years full-time teaching experience, current licensure and certification in field, and excellent communication and multi-tasking skills. |
